Hi, interestingly I only came upon your words here by accident. Not sure why that is. I don't believe that more than one image can be posted as your avatar, but give it a go and see. Nice to see someone from the Andrew onboard. My father and grandfather were both RN, and I have a great uncle who was a bootneck too. I spent many happy hours swimming in HMS Terror's pool in the spring of 1967, when I was out in Singapore for a month, having flown out by myself at the age of 10! My father was on the RFA Mull of Kintyre at that time, or at least, that's the name of one of the ships he took me onboard.
The picture used as an avatar is that of Ernst Barkmann, a German soldier with whom I had an extended exchange of letters. Somewhere, I have two signed photos of this brave man, but cannot get them to hand, so I downloaded the avatar off the net. When I was playing online games regularly, my nickname was Barkmann, so it seemed reasonable. Welcome to the site and Happy New Year to you and yours.
